How To: Convert PDFs to ePUB Files for Tablets/Mobiles
If you are an avid reader and have a vast collection of PDF e-books, you can read them using a PDF reader on your tablet. However, if you want to enjoy them on the iBook app on your iPad, the Amazon Kindle or the Android Kindle, or the Aldiko Book Reader app you’ll need your e-book to be in the ePub format. What Is ePUB? Just like PDF or Portable Document Format, which is a uniform standard for un-editable documents, ePUB or electronic publication is a free and open e-book standard that has been created by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) for e-book readers and similar devices. The files with the .EPUB extension support vector images, resizable font size and word wrapping options, making them usable on devices of various screen sizes. The format supports embedded metadata, Digital Rights Management (DRM), and is compressed in size and extremely customizable due to XML support and styling functionalities like CSS and XPath. Moreover, all the files are stored inside a ZIP archive for convenience. The Tools The first thing you need are the PDF e-books. You can download free e-books from many sources, like www.free-ebooks.net, but this site requires a VIP membership for the ePub format. Save the PDF files of your choice that you want to read in your target device to move to the next step. We will be using the Calibre e-book management tool to convert the PDF files. To download the tool, visit http://calibre-ebook.com/download and pick the OS version of your choice. We will be using the Windows version for this workshop. Save and execute the .MSI file to set up the program. Setting It Up Once Calibre has been installed on your machine, start the application. If the setup wizard isn’t displayed, go to the Preferences option and start the wizard. First, set the folder where you would like the ePub books to be saved. Click ‘Next’ to set a target device; Leave it at ‘Generic’ if you don’t want the file to be device-specific. Click ‘Next’ and finish the wizard settings. The wizard helps you set a device that helps you create optimized ePub files specifically suiting your device’s settings and form factor Add Metadata and Convert Click the ‘Add Books’ button and add all the books that you want to convert. Click the ‘Convert’ button. You will be directed to an edit page, where you can edit every aspect of the final e-book. If you want more details of the book such as authors, ISBN and covers, click the ‘Edit metadata’ button before converting. Click ‘Download metadata and covers options’ to update the file details. Once that is done, proceed to converting the file. Making The e-Book Tablet-Worthy The ‘Look and Feel’ settings help you customize the final package based on the target device’s form factor. Next is the Heuristic processing setting. The setting will look for common errors and fix them to suit the device that handles the final output. This setting will help you unwrap text lines, look for unformatted chapter breaks, add scene breaks, remove unwanted hyphenation marks and delete blank lines and other such formatting issues in the e-book. In case you have not set the target device during the setup wizard, you can use the page set up settings to select it. This is a better way to select target devices because you can customize settings as and when you convert the e-book. Here, you can also change page margins based on the size of your device screen. The Structure Detection settings help you set up the XML XPath file, which is similar to a CSS for an HTML page. If you have little knowledge about XPath, it is better to leave the settings untouched. Along with editing the metadata, you can also generate a cover to identify the e-book in the target device Tying Up the Loose Ends The Table of Contents is an amazing feature, as it enables you to create a contents page if it is missing from the original file. Moreover, if you are unsure if the e-book has a contents page, you can create it by enabling the ‘Do not add detected chapters to the Table of Contents’ and ‘Force use of auto-generated Table of Contents’ options. If the book is intended for children and you find some objectionable words or phrases, you can search and replace such terms before you create the ePub book. If you want the PDF to be free of images go to the PDF option and check the ‘No Images’ option. Next, go to the ‘ePUB Output’ option, and set the options as per your requirements. If the final file is larger than a particular limit, it will be automatically split into smaller parts. Although you have selected the target device, you can further customize the readability of your e-book as you convert to ePub Happy Reading Finally, go to the ‘Debug’ option and set a target folder location to monitor the conversion. Click ‘OK’ to convert the file. Depending on the size of your file, the conversation time will vary. Once it is done, you can go ahead and transfer the e-book to your device and enjoy reading your favorite books on the go. |

Lip-locks that took the world by storm!
Some call it 'Kiss of the Century'. This iconic photograph was taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt which appeared on the cover of Life magazine in 1945. Eisenstaedt took no notes or names the day he snapped the photo, hence the identity of the sailor and the pretty nurse intrigued many for decades. After 62 years, finally a guy named Glenn McDuffie took the claim. It's the most passionate kiss that swooned the entire world for a long time. Thanks to Eise...
The super soccer kiss! After the notorious 'God's hand', this is second best act done by Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona. In this picture, Maradona, right, is seen kissing Claudio Caniggia after the latter scored Boca Juniors' second goal in their 4-1 match against archrival River Plate in 1996. After watching her husband's act, Caniggia's wife, ex-model Mariana Nannis, warned him that two can hug, but not kiss - especially on the lips.
Lady Madge loves experimenting, and Britney dear is so desparate to hit headlines. When the notorious gals met on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards at New York, both made a passionate lip lock! Though Britney said the kiss was actually Madonna's idea, it was rumored that Britney did all these to make her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake jealous.

Kids of Bollywood Stars
Aarav Bhatia
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna's only son is pampered by his family a lot. Apparently Aarav wants to become a drummer and have his own rock band when he grows up. Junior Akki has even won the Green Globe Award for Outstanding Contribution by a Child. He was apparently the youngest person to have sponsored a village under the "Light a Billion Lives" campaign.
Nysa Devgn
Little Miss Devgn, all of 8, apparently, is not very fond of cameras as her parents are as she was seen in a grumpy mood recently, when photographers were snapping her pictures. According to mommy Kajol, Nysa is an even better actress than her. That, coming from such a heavyweight of acting, is a sure sign that this daughter will step into her mother's shoes very well.
Arhaan Khan
Arhaan is the son of Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora and is 8 years old. He is the apple of everyone's eye in the Khan household which includes uncle Salman Khan. According to mom Malaika, "Arhaan is the best thing that happened to me" and it was Arhaan who helped saved her marriage to Arbaaz which proves that he is the ultimate priority for both parents.
Sara and Ibrahim Ali Khan
The two are the kids of Saif Ali Khan and ex-wife, Amrita Singh. Saif and Amrita, who split in 2004, however, make sure that their separation does not make a difference in their kids' life. Sara and Ibrahim stay with Amrita and her family but spend ample time with daddy, Saif.
Myra and Mahikaa Rampal
Myra and Mahikaa, aged 6 and 9, are the beloved daughters of Arjun and Mehr Rampal. The two girls lead very normal lives thanks to their parents, who do not want to join the bandwagon of other parents who want their kids to excel in everything. Myra and Mahikaa even turned budding musicians after seeing their father's fantastic performance on the movie 'Rock On'.
Samaira Kapur
Samaira Kapur is the daughter of one time No.1 actress Karisma Kapur and Sanjay Kapur. After her birth, her parents' marriage turned bitter and led to a nasty court battle for divorce and custody of Samaira who was a newborn then. However, the issue is settled now and the family leads a happy life after the arrival of Kiaan Raj Kapur, Karisma and Sanjay's son.
Renee Sen
Sushmita Sen brought Renee home in the year 2000 and her little sibling, Alisah in 2010. Having one of the coolest moms, is probably the best thing Renee could have ever asked for. Sushmita Sen dotes on her daughters and everything takes a backseat for her when her daughters need her.
Renee is an extremely intelligent girl and has traits similar to her mom as stated by Sush's mother.
Hrehaan and Hridhaan Roshan
When not playing intense roles on screen, Hrithik is busy with his two sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. The sons have inherited their parents' good looks and extreme good manners as well. The two tiny Roshans are the centre of the world for Susanne and Hrithik and also capture the fancy of their parents' admirers. (MensXP.com)

Khan Buzz: Aamir, Imran Team Up For Next Flick?
Speculation over the famed Khans teaming up together for a flick have been making the rounds and Aamir lent credence to those Chinese whispers when he revealed that "Imran and I might be doing a film together" and that "we are definitely looking at a script to bring us together on screen."
Although Aamir claims that the 'retro' look was spouse Kiran Rao's "idea", one can't miss the Shah Rukh Khan 'retro' influence and 'look' that was spotted in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Om Shanti Om.
Expressing his glee at having performed his "item number", Aamir declared that he was quite open to the idea of doing a few more of them, if the offers fructified into reality. And what's better, in a stunning volte face, went ahead and declared that he would "accept a National Award for the 'Best Item Number Boy'." The National honour reference, was incidentally, a dig at a certain Katrina Kaif who valiantly declared that " 'item numbers' too should be considered for National Awards."( Sheila raked it the moolah and appreciation for Katrina, lest you've missed the point)
Claiming that not a "single heroine took his call," for the 'item number' track, Aamir declared that he was all "eager to show his 'item song number' to Salman" since he was a "very good friend" of his.
"I value Salman's feedback" asserted Aamir. "And there's no question of competition, because Salman has done quite a few 'item songs' and is far ahead of me."
Virtual High: Emraan, Jacqueline Bag 3 Lakh Fans For 'Murder 2'!
happiness. And rightully so, considering that the flick illumining Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez has managed to lure and charm... upwards of three lakh fans and followers on social networking sites! And as Bhatt puts it gleefully… "We're still counting."
Describing his move towards storming the bastion of social networking sites, the irrepressible Bhatt, gifted with the gift of the (acerbic) gab, like none other, asserts that "it was my idea" and that he was "merely moving with the times."
Revealing that each day, the number of fans on the social networking sites were soaring by "around 10 to 20 thousand each day," Bhatt welcomes his "digital natives" heartily.
Bhatt's earlier comment, reportedly describing cinema as an "ageing whore" and television as the "new bitch" had raised collective eyebrows.
"Today, with home theatres, cable TV and smart phones, marketing of films has become all the more important. Be it web chats, voice chats or visiting small towns to promote Murder 2, we are leaving no stone unturned. And if the strategy pays off, we will continue it for all our films in the future."
